New Year's Resolution: Fashion

Any of my friends will tell you I tend to think things through - ALOT, some may say, overanalyze...
This mindset translates into a lot of time spent investigating and mulling over options before finally making a purchase. This works well about 50% of the time. The other half of the time, all of the thinking goes out the window and I purchase items based on a whim because I get fed up with all the cerebral nonesense. This year, I really would like to get back to my core philosophy of spending money wisely and purchasing quality items that reinforce my style.

One trend that I am digging right now - the matching shirt and skirt. And I am determined to hold onto my bills and purchase this outfit by the end of the month!

Another goal of mine: a printed sweatshirt. Mary Katrantzou makes absolutely beautiful clothing, featuring colorful, vibrant scene prints

Many, alright, almost ALL of her items are out of my normal price range, but there's something about this sweatshirt below that's really calling to me. Let's see if I can save up some $$$, and purchase it while it's still winter outside. Oh, and this Folk version on the right is pretty great, too.

All I Want for Christmas 2013

In the Kitchen: Pumpkin Ravioli

Last year, I discovered Pumpkin ravioli and have been in love with it ever since. I was distressed to learn that pumpkin ravioli is a delicacy only served during the fall and winter time. Something about pumpkins only being in season during those times, whatever. ANYWAYS, now that it is once again fall, I thought I would try my hand at making it on my own. Luckily for me, Self mag and I agree on this idea and provided this recipe in their September issue!

In the Kitchen: Chicken Lettuce Wraps

My close friends know that PF Chang's holds a deep place in my heart. Mix my love of asian cuisine with the upscale and fun vibe of PF's and I am a goner. Currently, there are no PF Chang's within NYC, so I have to take matters into my own hands...I have been known to use a frozen PF's meal to try and recreate the experience I hold so dear. But today, I went one step further. Following an ALMOST exact recipe for their beloved chicken lettuce wraps, courtesy of Food Network, I tried to execute this famous dish.
